Monday, December 31st, React Presents are proud to bring the 2nd annual Chicago NYE Ball! This year, trance veteran and North Coast Music Festival artist Paul Oakenfold will provide the New Year’s Eve entertainment at recently multi-million dollar remodeled megaclub, The Castle!

Last year for the Chicago New Year’s Eve Ball, rapper Lil’ Jon amped up the party as the main entertainment. This year, fitting with the major boom in electronic dance music in the United States and specifically Chicago, trance producer and dance music veteran Paul Oakenfold will provide the headlining entertainment at The Castle, Chicago’s newest mega club fresh off of a huge remodel! Aside from Oakenfold, this New Year’s Eve Party will also feature Chicago’s top club DJ’s in four different rooms, state of the art sound and lighting, and over 3,000 party goers!

For over three decades, Paul Oakenfold has been a go-to name in dance music internationally. From spinning the hottest parties all over the world, producing tracks and his weekly podcast Planet Perfecto, running his own label Perfecto Records, to producing soundtracks for Hollywood blockbusters, Oakenfold has done it all. The word “veteran” for Oakenfold is an understatement. Paul started spinning funk in the late ‘70’s, and in 1984 he began as the A&R man for Champion Records. He also became the promoter and British agent for the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. By the late ‘80’s, Paul had become Ibiza’s ambassador, hosting residencies at Amnesia and Pacha.

Around the same time, Paul became the Ministry of Sound in London’s first resident. His residency at the famed UK club Cream, however, would be the stunt that would lead to Paul’s global success.

The residency was rewarded with a Grammy nominated 2004 compilation Creamfields. The artist went on to receive a second Grammy nomination in 2007 for his album A Lovely Mind, and then again in 2009 for his production work with pop superstar Madonna. Aside from the production side, Oakenfold has embarked on three worldwide tours opening for Madonna, as well as for U2 (and producing for U2 as well). Paul has also held the honor of performing physically on the Great Wall of China and to two sold out dates playing to 30,000 people at the Hollywood bowl in California. In 1988, Perfecto Records was born. The label played a pertinent role in the birth of trance music, with hits like “Southern Sun” and the double album Perfecto Las Vegas, which held the #1 spot on the US iTunes dance chart for several weeks. This release solidified his reputation, achieving the highest selling DJ compilation ever released in the US.

In recent years, aside from releasing over 20 DJ mix compilations and remixing the likes of the Rolling Stones, Paul has produced film scores for movies such as The Bourne Identity, Shrek 2, Collateral and Matrix Reloaded. He also maintains his appearances at clubs all over the United States like a weekly residency at Rain in The Palms, Las Vegas.
