The BPM Festival announces additional 2017 showcases, previews documentary

Once the New Year’s Eve celebrations have subsided, it’s time to head south for The BPM Festival, one of the year’s best showcases of techno, house, and other quality underground dance music. The annual event will return to Playa del Carmen, Mex. for its tenth anniversary this Jan. 6-15, 2017.

In addition to a near-endless phase one lineup announcement including 20 incredible artist and label showcases, festival organizers today added an additional 10 showcases (see full showcase list below), with over 70 planned to take place over the ten days.

Also highlighted in today’s announcement is the return of BPM’s signature dual-weekend “Ya’ah Muul” event, which on its own is a festival within a festival. The Sat., Jan. 7 opening weekend event will feature Carl Cox, Art Department, Steve Lawler, Victor Calderone, D’Julz, Chaim, Francesca Lombardo, and more. The closing weekend party on Sat., Jan. 14 features Seth Troxler, the Martinex Brothers, Loco Dice, Guy Gerber, Kenny Glasgow, Lauren Lane, and more. Each party runs from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Three, seven, and ten-day BPM Festival passes, as well as individual event tickets, are on sale now.

BPM was originated as a post-NYE gathering of industry professionals (the name itself stands for ‘Bartenders, Promoters, Musicians’) and has now grown into a festival attracting over 70,000 fans from around the world. A full-length documentary will take viewers on a journey through the festival’s growth while featuring behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from artists and organizers. Watch the documentary’s trailer here and prepare for the film’s premiere during the festival with a free screening for fans.
