Chicago’s Wavefront Festival announces first wave of performers

Wavefront Music Festival, Chicago’s beachfront electronic music event set for July 5, 6 and 7, today released the first wave of artists set to perform.

With the sands of Montrose Beach as the platform and Chicago’s skyline as the backdrop, Wavefront will exhibit an impressively diverse mix of dance music across four stages, with a heavier focus on house music not seen at other area festivals.

After a successful presale, tickets for Wavefront 2013 will go back on sale on Thurs., April 4 at 8 a.m. CDT.

Due to a new partnership between Wavefront and Citibank, a special early ticket sale will also be available to Citibank Citi card members beginning tonight (April 2) at 11:01 p.m CDT.

Wavefront attracted over 40,000 attendees in its inaugural event last year, even though it competed with Electric Forest over the same weekend, held three hours away in Rothbury, Mich.

This year’s move to the July 4 weekend puts it on a later weekend than Electric Forest and could become a tradition for the festival. Organizers told Billboard they have dates and location secured through 2018 and are planning to expand into “four major markets in the next 18 months.”
