Chicago’s Wavefront Music Festival officially on hiatus until 2015

Wavefront Music Festival has officially announced it won’t return to Chicago until next year.

The beach-side festival, traditionally held over July 4th weekend on Montrose Beach, frustrated local residents last year and has struggled since to find a compromise among neighbors and alderman Harry Osterman.

Wavefront’s Facebook page revealed the news late last week: “In response to the countless inquiries we’ve received over the past year, we regret to announce that Wavefront Music Festival has been postponed until 2015. We WILL be back – until then hang tight and enjoy the rest of the events this summer in our amazing city of Chicago”

A new event — Riverwest Music Festival — is instead being held during Independence Day weekend. The festival’s lineup features Adrian Lux, Art Department, Deep Dish, Excision, Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones, Matador, Morgan Page, Rusko, and more.

Riverwest will occupy the Chicago River shore at the intersection of Elston and Division streets. It’s open to all ages and tickets are on sale now.
