EDC Chicago 2013 lineup revealed for May 24-26 festival at Chicagoland Speedway

UPDATE (3/8 6:30 p.m.): The official EDC Chicago 2013 lineup has been released by Insomniac, with includes nearly 30 additional artists who weren’t included in the Tribune’s list.

The lineup for the inaugural Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Chicago, set for May 24-26 at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, was revealed earlier today in an article posted on the Chicago Tribune‘s website.

Official word is expected to come from EDC producer Insomniac Events later today.

The Tribune article notes that capacity for EDC Chicago will be capped at 90,000 for the weekend, though the speedway can handle nearly 100,000 per day. In comparison, EDC Las Vegas attracts over 320,000 over the course of three days.

“We’ve capped capacity in Chicago and safety is a big reason,” said Insomniac CEO Pasqualle Rotella in an interview with the Tribune. “It’s new territory for us and we want to take baby steps to work out any kinks that might make it a less than great event.”

This is the first time EDC will make a stop in Chicago — or anywhere in the region — before heading to Las Vegas for the largest event of its kind June 21-23. Other EDC stops in 2013 include New York, Puerto Rico, Texas, and Orlando.

EDC Chicago is in direct competition with two other festivals over Memorial Day Weekend: Summer Camp Music Festival, held 140 miles outside Chicago in Chillicothe, Ill., and Detroit’s Movement Electronic Music Festival. Chicago is also home to Spring Awakening Music Festival, held just a few weeks later in June.

EDC Chicago tickets are on sale starting at $175 for GA and $299 for VIP. Tickets including onsite camping options are also available.
