EDC Chicago releases event trailer for inaugural 2013 festival

With just over three months until the inaugural EDC Chicago 2013, festival organizers Insomniac Events today released the official trailer for the May 24-26 event to be held at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet.

The trailer uses footage from Electric Daisy Carnivals in other cities to give fans an idea of what to expect in Chicago, which is said to have a capacity near the size of EDC Las Vegas.

There’s been considerable discussion on social media about the festival’s location in Joliet — nearly 50 miles from downtown Chicago. Some have even begun jokingly referring to the event as “EDC Joliet” instead.

Still, locating at the Chicagoland Speedway gives the festival flexibility to offer options no other Chicago-land festival can do.

In particular, EDC Chicago can run later into the night because its not constrained by noise ordinances that force other area festivals to end by midnight or even 10 p.m.

EDC Chicago will also be the first and likely only EDC to offer on-site camping. Campgrounds will give attendees early access and admission to exclusive pre-parties.
