In a surprising announcement today, Insomniac founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella revealed that Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas will take place May 21-23, 2021 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“With the world being shutdown for over a year, I’m happy to announce we’re on our way to being able to celebrate in person,” said Rotella in an Instagram post.
“We are moving forward as planned and will be working closely with local and state officials to make the show as safe as possible. You can expect the full EDC experience with no details spared, from the festival grounds to the music, stages, art, performers, artists & fireworks!”
Insomniac submitted a safety plan to the state of Nevada in late March. Among other precautions, the plan calls for fans to be vaccinated or present a negative COVID-19 test prior to entry using a “health pass” mobile app. Masks will be required.
The plan also suggests the possible use of COVID-sniffing dogs.
Rotella said more details on safety protocols and a lineup would be shared soon. He also noted fans who aren’t able to attend can transfer their passes to 2022.
It’s not yet clear if EDC Week will take place as it has in the past, but most venues around the strip are already reopened and today’s news is sure to kickstart the full return of Vegas nightlife.
