Essential day-by-day guide to this weekend’s best Movement after-parties

As the city of Detroit gears up for the 10-year anniversary edition of Movement Electronic Music Festival, house and techno aficionados can expect a non-stop party all weekend long with a slew of pre- and after-parties scheduled throughout the city.

For fans having a difficult time combing through the options, here’s a list of our favorite picks for can’t-miss parties going down in Motor City this Memorial Day Weekend.

Friday, May 27

Danny Tenaglia & Chuck Daniels at Poplux
9 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 21+
Tickets: $20 + fees
Serving as the official launch party for Movement, the crowd at Poplux will be in for a real treat as they’re seduced by the sweet grooves of New York native Danny Tenaglia and Detroit local Chuck Daniels. Out on the patio, the underground sounds of Motor City’s Keith Kemp and Miguel Senquiz.

The Blu Party at Bleu Nightclub
10 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 18+
Tickets: $15 + fees
Kicking off Memorial Day Weekend, Sydney Blu teams up with Activate, Primary Presents and Vested to debut The Blu Party in Detroit. The event features a solid lineup of house and tech-house artists including Christian Martin, Worthy, Gene Farris, and many more.

Saturday, May 28

Detroit Love at Masonic Temple
11 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 18+
Tickets: $30 + fees
Hometown hero Carl Craig brings in a lineup of techno heavyweights for his Detroit Love party at the Masonic Temple. Curating a roster of renowned artists, Craig will be joined by Dubfire, Seth Troxler, and Keith Kemp.

Octopus Recordings Showcase at Bleu Nightclub
10 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 18+
Tickets: $20 + fees
Bringing his roster of rising techno stars for a special label showcase, Octopus Recordings leader Sian is preparing for a night of hard-hitting beats. The second annual event will feature supporting sets by Julian Jeweil, Jay Lumen, Weska, and Juheun.

RBMA Presents Soul Clap’s House of Efunk at TV Lounge
11 p.m. – 12 p.m., Ages 21+
Tickets: $30 + fees
Even more proof that Movement weekend will be a marathon and not a sprint is Red Bull Music Academy’s epic 13-hour party, Soul Clap’s House of Efunk. Starting at 11 p.m. Saturday and going strong until noon Sunday, the gathering features artists like Amp Fiddler, Benoit & Sergio, Biz Markie, and more for hours of genre-spanning tunes.

Sun., May 29

Country Club Disco at TBA
10 p.m. – 6 a.m., Ages 21+
Tickets: $30 + fees
Being held in a yet to be disclosed location, Country Club Disco is giving partiers a true Detroit warehouse experience with a headlining performance by Shiba San. Featuring two stages and hosted by Golf Clap, the event features support by Moon Boots, Oliver Dollar, Eyes Everywhere, and more.

Electric Tribe at Poplux
11 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 18+
Tickets: $20 + fees
Chicago’s Green Velvet teams up with Detroit player Kevin Saunderson for a special back-to-back set. The night also features performances by Dantiez, Gene Ferris, and bjëlo.

Who’s Afraid of Detroit – 10-Year Anniversary Party at Masonic Temple Fountain Ballroom
11 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 18+
Tickets: $40 + fees
Dirtybird leader Claude Vonstroke is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his club hit “Who’s Afraid of Detroit” with a booming party at the Masonic Temple. Vonstroke has curated a lineup of fan favorites from his label including Justin Martin, J. Phlip, Ardalan, and an unnamed special guest that surely will not disappoint. Mon., May 30

Official Movement Closing Party with Tale of Us, Âme (DJ Set) at Masonic Temple
11 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 18+
Tickets: $20 + fees
To wrap up its after-party adventures, Movement has invited two legendary performers to grace the stage of its official closing party at the Masonic Temple. True innovators in the scene, the party will bring Life & Death’s Tale of Us to the stage for an inspired performance. Innervision’s Âme will also perform a special DJ set to wrap up the weekend.

Pro-tip: For those having a difficult time trying to decide who to close the festival with on day two, consider this party as both Tale of Us and Âme perform Sunday on the Beatport Stage.

Repopulate Mars Detroit at Exodus Lounge
10 p.m. – 4 a.m., Ages 21+
Tickets: $30 + fees
Lee Foss brings the future to Detroit with his Repopulate Mars party series. With a reputation for bringing in the freshest sounds in house music, Foss and his curated event will feature a lineup of groovy sounds by MK, Kenny Glasgow, Soul Clap, and others.

Something Different
7 a.m. – 2 a.m.
Tickets: $25 + fees
The party for the ultimate reveler, Something Different will give all-nighters the chance to keep things going all day. Kicking off with a special five-hour sunrise set with DJ Harvey at 7 a.m., the event will feature two stages and more than a dozen performers including DJ Tennis, Carl Craig, Bamboozle, and Lonely C, among others.
