Electric Forest requests mass gathering permit for 2014 festival

Electric Forest organizers have submitted a mass gathering permit application for the highly anticipated fourth annual festival near Rothbury, Mich.

The Grant Township board — the governing body of the area surrounding the festival grounds — received the application requesting a permit for the dates of June 26-29, 2014.

“The mass gathering permit has not yet been approved by the Grant Township Board,” said Deputy Clerk Carol Sisson in an email to Electronic Midwest.

“This item will be on the agenda for the Jan. 7, 2014 meeting.”

It’s unclear when organizers plan to reveal to details of next year’s festival.

An email request for comment from Live Loud, Electric Forest’s publicity firm, was not immediately returned.

Date and ticket information was released in mid-January for the 2013 event. An estimated 32,500 people attended.

Electric Forest is held at the Double JJ Ranch, the same grounds as the Rothbury Festival in 2008 and 2009.

Colorado-based Madison House Presents produces Electric Forest in collaboration with California’s Insomniac Events, the minds behind Electric Daisy Carnival and a number of other festivals around the world.

Electric Forest provides one of the most unique festivals in the country. In addition to a diverse musical lineup, onsite camping, and the magical Sherwood Forest experience, the resort itself offers a variety of lodging options and amenities, a golf course, and even an on-site water park.
